Animal welfare is to make sure animals are good conditions and their owners are treating them properly. This was founded in 1951 in Washington, DC. This protects the animal from pain, injuries and suffering, such as animal abuse and neglect. This also deals with the breeding that comes with it and making sure it is happening properly. Animal welfare makes sure any corporations or businesses dealing with animals is giving them fresh food and water. These policies apply to breeds, veterinarians, zoo keepers, animal scientists and trainers and many other. This is important since many people tend to abuse animals and have no respect towards them. To inspect animals and make sure they are in good health, people will look for good energy levels and appetite. They can see how healthy they are through their fur coat and their eye color. The five freedoms that are involved in animal welfare are freedom from hunger and thirst, freedom from discomfort, freedom from pain, injury or disease, freedom to express normal behavior, freedom from fear and distress. This helps ensure that the animals have good living conditions and treated with kindness. This helps make sure that if the animals are sick they will receive treatment that is necessary and they are provided the space they need as animals. Many people abuse animals and keep them in dirty living conditions so this law really helps prevent that because people can get into serious legal trouble. But this doesn’t prevent people from using them as food or trade. This law just prevents them from abuse and maltreatment.
