My last blog post was about an organization that helps combat deforestation and global warming. Now I have information on corporations that are involved in producing deforestation. I have not seen an organization completely for deforestation, there are many human activities that play a role in this. Agricultural expansion, timber extraction, mining, dam construction and infrastructure development are many causes as to why people take part in deforestation. Agriculture is 80% of the problem when it comes too deforestation. Farms need soil with high nutrients in it so that’s why they take down the forests, to use that oil for better crops. Soy, palm oil, and cattle ranching are the main categories that take part in it as these products are used all over the world. First of all, palm oil is used in many food and essential products across the globe, including pizza and biscuits, along with make up, soaps and candles. Manufactures and companies get the oil from trees that are grown in Malaysia and Indonesia. It is shown that fuels from motor vehicles are also a main cause of deforestation, so every human with a car that’s not electric takes part in this. 27 Million hectares of the earth’s surface are covered in oil plantations. Every year, at least 66 million tones of palm oil are produces and 86 percent of the worlds supply comes from Indonesia and Malaysia. There are no organizations that are purposefully supporting deforestation but products that people use across the globe take part in this. Humans daily needs are the reason as to why the rainforests are taken down and huge corporations that produce these products make sure that they get their palm oil.  Processed food is sold worldwide and palm oil is used in almost all of it.
