Changes in the World Throughout Time;

Due to Climate Change

Climate change has been getting worse and worse over the years, it is proven that the earth and creatures living on it have felt the impact of global warming throughout the world. The oceans temperature is getting warmer and warmer which causes hurricanes to intensify and the water becomes more acidic. As the earths temperatures rise, habitats begin to change and animals either die off or change their behavior.

In an article called, World’s oceans are losing power to stall climate change, it explains how the ocean has helped the earth with climate change, by absorbing the heat and carbon dioxide (Jeff Tollefson). But the ocean has been taking in all this damage for too much time and that will come to a halt if greenhouse gases don’t decrease. If we don’t slow the rate for greenhouse gases, as stated in the article, hurricanes will intensify, fish will start dying, and the mainlands will be flooded from ocean levels rising. Tollefson also explains how when the ocean absorbs C02 it makes the ocean more acidic. This has negative effects on coral reefs and the sea creatures. This article gave us information on how “over 100 scientists ,in 30 different countries, have testified the same thing.” (Jeff Tollefson) Humans have made a long term impact on the planet, the article states that by the year 2100 the ocean level will have risen by 1.1 meters.(Jeff Tollefson) This will cause more flooding during storms which will lead to more damage. It reveals in the article that water is being affected worldwide from climate change. This causes ocean animals to relocate, as whales start to search for colder waters. The earth is changing in a negative way, causing harm to animals, the ocean and everything on land or in the ocean. It is shown in many different ways how our earth is changing from global warming. This article explains how greenhouse gases are causing damage and we need to focus more on the output of it. The ocean will slowly start dying, which it already has. Coral reefs have been bleach and may never be replenished.

Another article called, Global warming: Worse news for plants, animals ; Studies talk of species dying out Heat forcing general retreat, goes in to depth on how the plants and animals are being affected and how their behavior has been altered. Scientists that have been doing research in Europe and North America shared their findings on how many species will go extinct due to the rising temperatures.(Callahan, Rick) Animals are also relocating due to the rising temperatures. The article states how “the earths temperature could rise by 6 degrees celsius, the earths temperature has only risen by half a degrees celsius” (Callahan, Rick) and already has made some drastic changes. It is also shown by Rick Callahan, how plants, birds and butterflies have advanced when they lay their eggs or when plants bloom by 2.3 days each decade (Callahan, Rick). The articles evidence signifies how animals will continue to change and be affected. Animals or insects will either adapt or die off due to the changes in temperature. They have studied different animals and species across the globe and came to the conclusion that many will go extinct because many of them can’t adapt to the changes. If the planet’s temperature has rose half a degree celsius then it will continue to rise if changes aren’t made. This article explains  how the changes aren’t being made over night but every year it increases. Overtime these changes will become drastic. The earths climate may seem like it hasn’t risen a lot but it has made changes to animals lives over the years. It shows how much plants or animals behavior changes from climate change. When animals begin to die, so will many other things. Other animals might start dying off because a certain species has been extinct. It is a chain reaction and many things will be effected negatively from this.

Projected changes in the physical climate of the Gulf Coast and Caribbean, it explains how increases in greenhouse gases takes a toll on the gulf coast and Caribbean. Researchers have estimates on how many changes will take place in that region including the change in temperature, sea level, and precipitation. The article states on how there is a lot of rainfall in these regions where hurricanes and tropical cyclones happen.(Michela Biasutti) Global warming changes the regional climate throughout the gulf and Caribbean. This is already a pretty warm region so an increase in temperature causes more humidity but it may not make hurricanes more presentable during hurricane season (Michela Biasutti). It might make the hurricanes more intense and powerful which could cause more damage. Over the years, it has been a debate if climate change has had a negative effect on hurricanes. Scientists have done studies and revealed how they have seen the amount of hurricanes increase over the years starting in 1995. A reason as to why the amount of hurricanes taking place is increasing is the surface temperature of the ocean.(Emanuel, 2005; Webster et al., 2005; Elsner, 2006; Holland and Webster, 2007) Hurricane Climatology is another book, which gave me information on how hurricanes are formed. It is described that hurricanes are caused by low air pressure going over warm oceans. This causes rain or thunderstorms and that will cause the winds to rotate. Elsner and Jagger state that hurricanes are powered by moisture and heat. (Elsner and Jagger 2013) Elsner has found that hurricanes happen when the oceans temperatures are the warmest and has found a link to the hurricanes climate with the global climate taking place. Another article states, the ocean warming has doubled since 1990 and has changed the ecosystem. Since the oceans temperature has been rising this helps increase the energy and power of the storms. (Jeff Tollefson) With this evidence, it is shown that hurricanes will continue to worsen as the oceans temperature increases. Hurricanes may happen more often but it is shown that they will intensify and gain power by the temperature of the ocean since it is fueled off of that. The gulf coast and Caribbean have been affected from the planets rising temperature. This itself, will kill many people. Being hit with hurricanes back to back is extremely dangerous especially if the hurricanes begin to get more powerful. Sooner or later hurricanes and tropical cyclones will become more dangerous than ever and this is because the earth’s temperature is rising.

The planet has been negatively effected by the worsening temperature changes in our climate. Many things involving the ocean and animals have been altered due to the rising temperatures. My argument explains how the ocean has been absorbing heat for years which is causing ocean animals and plants to die. The sea level is also beginning to rise which will affect many people due to natural disasters. Animals will begin to die off and every animal or insects lifestyle has began to change little by little every year. Animals will either adapt or relocate or die from the changes on earth. Climate change has heated up the ocean so much to the point hurricanes and tropical cyclones have become way stronger and more frequent.Work Cited
